Reviewing studies
Open a mentee’s study from their mentorship page (Open study links) or from track progress when a module is In progress.
Mentor view uses a dedicated URL:
/mentor/[mentee-user-id]/studyPlans/[study-id]
You see the same step list and instructions as the mentee, plus mentor actions on steps assigned to you. Study metadata (rename, end study) is mentee-only — you cannot end a study on their behalf from mentor view.
Current steps
Section titled “Current steps”The Current steps section lists every step in the active wave that needs action. Steps unlock in waves — all steps in a wave must complete before the next wave opens.
Parallel waves
Section titled “Parallel waves”Some waves include steps for both you and your mentee at once (for example meeting prep). You may see your step available while the mentee still works on theirs, or vice versa. A waiting banner explains when your action depends on theirs.
Note lanes
Section titled “Note lanes”In mentored studies, step notes use separate lanes:
| Lane | Who writes | Visibility |
|---|---|---|
| Mentee | Mentee on write_note steps | You and your mentee |
| Mentor | You on review_note steps | You and your mentee |
These are discipleship notes — shared for coaching and accountability.
Review and reject
Section titled “Review and reject”On review note steps:
- Read the mentee’s reflection in the mentee lane.
- Write your guidance in the mentor lane (required before completing).
- Complete the step, or Reject when the template allows — rejection reopens the mentee’s write step for revision.
Private mentor notes
Section titled “Private mentor notes”Below mentor-lane content, you can add a private mentor note on any step. Private notes sync to your account and are not visible to the mentee. Use them for session prep or follow-up reminders.
General notes on the study detail page (not tied to a step) remain owner-private — mentees manage those on their own study URL.
Step types (mentor actions)
Section titled “Step types (mentor actions)”| Type | What you do |
|---|---|
| Review note | Read mentee lane, write mentor lane, complete or reject |
| Grade quiz | Score subjective (essay-style) answers after the mentee submits; AI may pre-suggest grades |
| Meet | Acknowledge a shared meeting step |
| Acknowledge | Confirm you read or understood the instruction |
| Assign track | Pick a published track to complete an intro study (browse list; optional AI suggestions when enabled) |
| Attest outcomes | Confirm learning outcome slugs the mentee has demonstrated |
| Promote phase | Advance spiritual phase when checkup criteria are satisfied |
Steps the mentee owns (write note, answer quiz, review quiz after grading) appear read-only in mentor view until they finish.
Assign track step
Section titled “Assign track step”Intro studies end with an assign track step. From mentor view:
- Browse published tracks filtered to the mentee’s phase (tag filters optional).
- Optionally use Suggest tracks with AI for a ranked shortlist when your organization has AI enabled.
- Select a track — completing the step assigns it to the mentorship.
You can also assign a track from the mentee page without going through the intro study.
Quiz grading
Section titled “Quiz grading”When a quiz includes subjective questions:
- The mentee completes answer quiz.
- You complete grade quiz — confirm or adjust scores; AI may pre-fill suggestions.
- The mentee review quiz acknowledges results.
Auto-graded-only quizzes skip the grade step when the mentee passes.
Outcome attestation and promotion
Section titled “Outcome attestation and promotion”On phase checkup studies:
- Attest outcomes — check off required learning outcomes you have observed.
- Promote phase — final confirmation; the server verifies track completion and outcome gates before advancing the mentee’s phase.
Outcome progress
Section titled “Outcome progress”Studies linked to learning outcomes may show a progress panel as evidence accumulates. Track-level outcome summaries appear on the mentee mentorship page. Use these when deciding whether a mentee is ready for checkup assignment.
When the plan finishes
Section titled “When the plan finishes”When every wave is complete, the study shows an all-steps-complete message. The mentee (or track workflow) handles end study and the next track module. Return to the mentee page to assign the next plan or start the phase checkup.
- Adapt instructions in the mentor lane when you know the mentee’s learning style — templates use one instruction set per plan in v1.
- Open studies from the mentee page so the back link returns to
/mentorship/[id]. - If you lose access (
Mentorship not found), the pairing may have ended or you may not be the active mentor.
