Mentorship as a mentee
Mentorship pairs you with a more mature believer who guides your studies. You always own your studies; your mentor can review your work, assign your track, and write notes on mentored steps.
Mentorship works by invitation — you or your mentor sends an invite; there is no automatic matching through a church.
Do you need a mentor?

Mentors must be Meat spiritual phase or higher. You may have one active mentor at a time; a mentor may guide multiple mentees.
Invite or accept
Section titled “Invite or accept”Open Mentorship or follow the dashboard banner to Invite.
Find a mentor (mentee)
Section titled “Find a mentor (mentee)”- Enter your mentor’s email (they must already have a Garrison account).
- Send the invite.
- They accept from their pending invites — or you accept if they invited you first.
Pending invites
Section titled “Pending invites”The invite page lists invitations waiting on you. Accept or Decline each one. Cross-gender pairings (male mentor, female mentee) show a warning both parties must acknowledge before the pairing activates. Female mentor with male mentee is not permitted. Both users must have gender set on their profile.
After pairing is active
Section titled “After pairing is active”The mentorship hub shows your mentor’s name and pairing date. You can end mentorship from the hub when the relationship should close. Chat with your mentor appears on the hub when messaging is enabled for the pairing.
Studies with a mentor
Section titled “Studies with a mentor”Studies where a mentor is involved show your mentor on the study page. You each have your own notes on the steps that need them — see Study steps.
Your mentor opens the same study from their page to complete review, quiz grading, and track assignment steps. You keep working from your study list.
Intro study with a new mentor
Section titled “Intro study with a new mentor”When a new pairing has no track and no studies yet, your mentor assigns an intro study from their mentee page. It appears in your list like any other mentored study.
Intro studies usually end with your mentor assigning a track — the ordered discipleship path for your phase. Your mentor chooses the track; you work through what they assign.
Track studies
Section titled “Track studies”Once a track is assigned:

| Skippable modules | Your mentor may skip optional modules with written guidance |

Track studies appear in All studies with the same step experience as other studies. Your mentor handles skip and elective choices; you focus on the studies assigned to you.
Checkup and phase promotion
Section titled “Checkup and phase promotion”When your assigned track is complete, your mentor may assign a checkup study for phase advancement. You complete quiz and reflection steps; your mentor confirms outcomes and may advance your spiritual phase.
After promotion, spiritual phase on your profile may be locked (set by your mentor through the checkup). That unlocks additional study methods and guided courses for future studies.
What mentors do not do
Section titled “What mentors do not do”- Write platform curriculum (that is for curriculum designers)
- Assign studies without an active pairing with you
- See your general private study notes (only shared step notes and mentor workflow steps)
- Replace a full messaging app (basic chat may be available; richer messaging is planned later)
